An integrating part of Goethe-Institut international project on applied art and modernity, exhibited on Museu Nacional do Azulejo.

The German artists Uta Minnich and Lisa Ruland, along with 12 students of Schools of Art “Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha” and “”, tried an artistic approach to the theme “Chaos and Order”. During a workshop in Caldas da Rainha, a tile panel was created 8 meters height and 4 meters large, from November 21 exhibited on Museu Nacional do Azulejo, after which it will be permanently installed in the garden of Lisbon Goethe-Institut.

The tile art project is the Portuguese contribution for the international project of Goethe-Institut on applied art and modernity, supported by the prestigious Anna-Lindh Foundation. The presentation of the results of Lisbon, Rabat, Alexandria and Amman will be made on Berlin in the spring of 2008


Uta Minnich
Was born in 1962. Has a degree on Pharmacy from the University of Greifswald.¨
Studied Ceramic Craft in Stralsund and Höhr-Grenzhausen Specialised School of Ceramic. In 1995 received the diploma of Ceramic Conception and Design. Since 1997, works on her own on her workshop in Bendorf.

Lisa Ruland
Was born in 1968. Finished high school with specialisation in design and conception. Studied for Design and Conception Technical Assistant.
Frequented in 1993/94 the studies of Graphic arts in Niederrhein-Krefeld Superior School with a specialisation on Textile Design. Finished studies in clay ceramics and studied in Höhr-Grenzhausen Superior School for Ceramic Design and Conception. Since 2000, works on its own on her workshop in Mendig.
